Agra Mathura Vrindavan Tour from Delhi

This one is very special for you, as today you are going to hear my unforgettable account of Agra Mathura Vrindavan Tour from Delhi

This post will help you plan your Agra tour better, as you will come to know what to expect from the tour.

Let’s begin without any further ado.

How Agra visit happened

I have been to many places in my life, I have been to hills, beaches, seen monuments, deserts.

However, somehow a visit to Taj Mahal eluded me all this time.

This was all going to change.

Recently my relatives came from Kolkata to Delhi to visit my family as it was summer vacations.

On their checklist there were two things –

a Delhi Darshan Tour and,

a trip to Agra, Mathura & Vrindavan.

So, it was planned that on any of the weekdays we are going for these tours.

Master Tip: If possible plan your trip for both Delhi & Agra on weekdays, as there is comparatively more rush on weekends. Also be aware that Taj Mahal remains closed on Friday, where as most of monuments and museums remain closed on Monday in Delhi.

How Our Trip Unfolded

The Start

We started our tour to Agra early morning , at 6 am.

As we stay in South Delhi, we chose our pick up point – Moolchand Hospital DTC Bus Stop.

Pick up was on time, the Guest relation executive – Mr. Chandan called us 15 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time.

We were greeted with a welcome and smile and escorted to our seats as per the seat number allocated to us.

Master Tip: Choose your pick up point wisely, consult tour operator in case of confusion.

The Trip to Agra Began...

Within 30 minutes we hit the Yamuna Expressway, the highway that connects Delhi to Agra.

The onboard guide briefed us on the upcoming journey and what to expect while we started.

It was a 3 hours 40 minutes journey one way from Delhi to Agra.

So the Guide made sure we never had a dull moment during the tour.

Nice music was being played as we were enjoying the scenery from the windows.

Master Tip: Choose a Volvo Bus instead of a Normal AC Bus. As we found the long distance journey requires more comfort.

Breakfast Time

No one in the bus had any breakfast as the pick up was early.

We could hear our stomach growling out of hunger.

At 7 am we took a halt at nice restaurant on the highway. The onboard guide escorted us to the restaurant.

It was well maintained, nice ambiance!

We could smell a mix of flavourful aroma as we entered the restaurant.

Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Noodles, Burgers, Chips, Beverages…you name it and they had it.

We ordered Dosa, and a nice coffee. Wao ! It was simply yummy!

Master Tip: Use the loo/toilet at the restaurant for your nature calls and to freshen up.

The Grand Entrance!

We hit Agra before time, thanks to no traffic and yes the bus driver, Deepak drove professionally.

“I have got your *entry tickets & socks to Taj Mahal”, the Guide announced.

We collected our entry tickets and were soon joined by a local guide – Akram.

We went pass the security gates and after walking a 100 yards are so we could see the huge, magnanimous gates leading to Taj Mahal.

*The best part about this tour was the pro-active planning – tickets to the monuments and other props could be arranged on the payable basis in advance.

Master Tip: Entry Tickets for Taj Mahal & Agra Fort can be made available at the time of entrance to Taj Mahal. All you need to do is make the payment inside the bus for the same.

Wah Taj!

At last, the moment we had been deeply longing for was only a few steps away.

As we entered through the grand entrance gates, we could not believe our eyes.

And like us, all our fellow passengers were in awe.

No wonder, Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world!

It is the most beautiful monument ever created by mankind.

“This exquisite marble structure, is a mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan in the loving memory of his wife – Mumtaz begum!”, Our Guide Uttered.

Our Guide continued, “Did you know Shahjahan’s original name was ‘Khurram’ a name with Persian origin, meaning happiness”.

He did excellent guiding, very knowleadgable, courteous and entertaining.

After 2 hours of morning sightseeing, it was time to bid-adeau to Taj Mahal, and head to our next destination.

Master Tip: Use the Umbrella provided by the tour operator, especially if you are traveling in summers or in the afternoon.

Souvenirs for Home

Next to spice up the tour a bit.

We moved from Taj Mahal to explore the local handicrafts and artifacts.

Did you know Agra is not only famous for Taj Mahal but also the inlay marble artworks, leather products and sweet called “Petha”.

The showroom had mesmerising collection of traditional inlaid marble, jewellery, saris, leather shoes and bags, and more.

My cousin bought a mini-Taj as a souvenirs of Agra.

After 30 minutes of window shopping, we started to get hungry.

Well our tour itinerary was planned to perfection, as next on the chart is Lunch, after which we would move to Agra Fort.

Master Tip: Shopping is optional.

It's Lunch Time..

We very hungry like anything.

We took a halt at a lunch point not too far from Agra Fort.

The restaurant ambiance was nice. There were two options – a la cartel as well as buffet.

The buffet was at a reasonable price. Food was good too.

After a 45 minutes lunch halt, it was time to move on to Agra Fort.

Agra Fort the Epitome Symbol of Mughal Era

It’s time to move on to our next destination – Agra Fort.

By this time it was getting little hot, thanks to the umbrella offered by the operator – it came really handy.

Again, our guide Akram escorted us to Agra Fort and gave an in-depth storytelling of the Agra Fort.

As we stepped in the grand gates of the fort, it for sure felt like as we were teleported to the Mughal era.

There is so much to see inside, besides the Fort, Diwan-e-aam, Akbar’s Mahal, Jahanghir’s Hauz, and lots more.

The view of Taj Mahal from Agra fort was simply spectacular.

After one hour of guided tour, it was time to hop on our Volvo bus and move to our next destination – Mathura.

Mathura..Lord Krishna Janma Bhumi

It took us one and half hour to reach Mathura from Agra.

Mathura is birth place of Lord Krishna, so we all were quite eager to visit the place.

There we visited Lord Krishna Janma-bhumi temple, after security checking we were allowed the entrance.

Photography is not allowed at the temple.

The temple has also preserved the Jail inside which Lord Krishna too birth some 5000 years ago, that was unbelievable!

There is a museum to see as well, which has nominal fee of Rs 5.

Next we moved on the Vrindavan.

Vrindavan - Krishna Leela Sthal

In 15 minutes or so we reached Vrindavan.

Vrindavan is the very place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood.

We took a e-rickshaw ride to one of the most poplar temple know as Prem Mandir.

There we saw the Light and Sound Show, that was really worth visiting.

All in all I would say the Delhi Agra Tour package provided to us was amazing.

The best part?

By 10:30 pm we were back to Delhi. The management of the tour was really good.
